This is a Handwoven Katan silk Benarasi saree. It is an incredibly distinctive piece with a kadhua weave which means that each motif is delicately and separately woven. This practice requires expert craftsmanship. This painstaking technique takes longer to weave but ultimately yields a vibrant pattern that stands out on the fabric. The weave is through a gold zari which creates a beautiful oval pattern in black and grey on the saree which is complimented by a delicate gold edging.
